Role: Assistant Professor of Practice, Self Sufficiency Program, Center for Improvement of Child & Family Services

Education: MSW, Portland State University; BA in Psychology, Southern Oregon University

PSU History: I first arrived at Portland State in 1986 as a student in the MSW program. Was previously Senior Instructor which changed to Assistant Professor of Practice in July 2015.

Academic/Research Focus: My work has primarily been providing therapeutic interventions to children and families involved with child welfare and mental health services. For the last several years I have worked at the Center for Improvement of Child and Family Services, providing training and technical assistance to human service and mental health staff and supervisors though state and federal system improvement grants. I love teaching and mentoring emerging social workers in effective, empowering practice with children, youth and families.

Personal Interests: Family, friends, grandchildren, being in nature. These nurture my ability to give, advocate and mentor. Meditation, knitting, creating, reading. These nurture my need for reflection. Humor...this nurtures my resilience!
