Kayla Harrison is graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree in health studies: community health education. Ms. Harrison grew up in the beautiful coastal town of Lincoln City, Oregon. She sincerely loves and appreciates her family and friends who supported her through the challenges and successes throughout the years.

In both Lincoln City and Portland, Ms. Harrison finds home because of the amazing people in her life. Ms. Harrison is thankful for her two heroes and younger sisters Hannah and Caroline Harrison; they are her world and inspire her daily.

Prior to attending Portland State University, Ms. Harrison was awarded the Ford Family Scholarship allowing her to attend any accredited university in the state of Oregon without any financial burden. Choosing Portland State University was an easy decision because it allowed her to uphold the responsibility of being a Ford Scholar in the thriving community of Portland.

While attending Portland State University, Ms. Harrison worked as the volunteer sports manager for Multnomah County Special Olympics Oregon and as a head coach for the Special Olympics volleyball and basketball programs. Working for< Special Olympics also gave her a strong passion for working alongside, representing, and advocating for people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics gave Ms. Harrison a daily reminder that there are sincerely wonderful people in this world. She also volunteered as a big sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and weekly at the Boys and Girls Club.

After graduation Ms. Harrison plans on pursuing her master's in public health education.
