Jesse Locker specializes in Italian art of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Current areas of interest include: the education of early modern artists, painting and literary culture in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the intersection of art and food in early modern Italy. He is author of a number of studies on various aspects of Italian art, including Artemisia Gentileschi: The Language of Painting (Yale University Press), winner of the Association Helen & Howard R. Marraro Prize, and editor of Rethinking Art in the Late Renaissance: After Trent (Routledge).
