Interested in the way socioeconomic systems shape daily life, time, work and value, Jea Alford works across media to examine and resist these preexisting structures we live within. She holds a BA in Art from Whitman College, an MFA in Contemporary Art Studio Practice from Portland State University, is a Fulbright recipient, RACC grantee, and winner of the 2014 Arlene Schnitzer Visual Arts Prize. Jea is currently a Resident in the 2015-2016 Rainmaker Artist Residency, and teaching at PSU in both the School of Art and Design and the School of Theater and Film. Jea grew up in a trailer park outside of Portland, Oregon.
