I was Director of Summer Session from 1970 to 1989 and Director of International Education from 1970 to 1985. I started the college's overseas study programs in 1962 and led five overseas programs, my final one in the 1990s. I've served RAPS in several capacities, including as president, Awards Committee chair, and lead editor of Portland State: A History in Pictures. Jay Gopalakrishnan: Simulate right - Use mathematics Jay Gopalakrishnan: Simulate right - Use mathematics
The success of scientific computation in recent decades in the design and prediction of complex engineering and biological systems has elevated it into a scientific methodology distinct from the traditional theoretical and experimental methodologies. Dr. Gopalakrishnan argues that the key to this success has been numerical algorithms founded on sound mathematical principles. This opinion shapes his research attitudes.
