Meet Matt Blancas

Matt Blancas is currently an administrative staff member of the Disability Resource Center at Portland State University. Since 2016, Matt has been providing clerical support to students with disabilities and working with professional staff to make the university accessible for all. Matt is an alumni of the University of Montana, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Management. As a retiree of the United States Armed Forces, Matt has extensive experience in public administration through the provision of federal resources to service members in the United States and overseas. He is a decorated combat veteran with a history of advocacy for mentorship training for military leaders, mental health services for military members, and support of the LGBT community following the revocation of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) Policy. As secretary for the board of directors of a public benefit organization, he participated in the governing of an LGBTQIA organization that hosted events, created safe spaces, and provided outreach for the greater community. While serving in the United States Department of Labor, Matt promoted ethical compliance and encouraged the adaptation of courses best suited to various learning abilities. Moving forward, Matt will also be pursuing his the Executive Master of Public Administration at PSU. In his spare time, Matt enjoys exploring the City of Portland with his spouse, enjoying the great outdoors, and being a part of the  local community.
