What brought you to Portland?

I was born in Portland and grew up in the suburban neighborhood of Tualatin. I have traveled to various countries and states and can’t imagine living anywhere other than the Pacific Northwest.

What is your favorite thing about living in Portland?

FOOD! One of the benefits of growing up here is being able to explore the different quadrants. I like knowing exactly what I want to eat, or drink, and exactly where to get it. I enjoy being able to suggest happy hour locations or coffee shops based on who will attend and the ambiance associated with the different pockets of Portland.

How do you think the MBA will help you advance your career?

In my current job I am frequently organizing data for directors/executives in Operations. My tactical goals of unit launches within the factory and factory planning on the front-end, lack the direct connection to revenue or operations costs. I chose to get an MBA to help identify how I can better communicate with upper management, which would then lead to managerial or advisory roles within my current company.

What are your career goals?

Short term, I would like to enhance my communication skills, including financial information, with management and executives. Long term, depending on what I learn in the next two years, I would like to either go into operations management, or stay in project management and orchestrate efficiency projects for time and cost savings.

Why did you choose PSU for your MBA?

I chose PSU for the location, leadership focus, and networking. I live in SW Portland so the commute is ideal. I have heard nothing but wonderful things with regards to the leadership focus and how the program grows the individuals on a personal level, and not just academically. Since I do not plan to move out of the Pacific NW, I wanted to expand my network in the same region. PSU also has the reputation and accreditation I required for my program.

What do you hope to accomplish in the MBA?

I am looking forward to this experience to help me determine if I want to go into management or remain as an individual contributor. I anticipate considerable personal growth from the PSU MBA program. Scholastically, I hope to understand financial documents and be able to develop and execute corporate strategies as it relates to multiple levels of a corporation.

What is something others might be surprised to know about you?

I love line dancing. I started dancing during my internships in college, and haven’t really stopped!
