Martin is an archaeoentomologist -- a specialty within zooarchaeology that focuses on the remains of insects and other arthropods from archaeological sites.  His research interests include host-parasite relationships, the human consumption of insects by prehistoric peoples, using archaeology to track introduced insect species into the New World, reconstruction of past environments and climates, and medical and veterinary entomology.
