Kimberly Utschig

Kim is a recent PNW transplant, spending her time previous to Portland State University serving with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest. Her time working with youth experiencing homelessness in the suburbs of Portland has shaped the lens in which she works with young people, prioritizing positive relationships and holistic support. In gaining an understating of the significant barriers some folks face in succeeding in the education system, Kim saw the opportunity to join the UHRL staff as a way to encourage success right in our students’ own communities. She is tremendously excited to be launching the University Success – West Campus program this fall and is looking forward to growing alongside the students here at PSU.

Originally a New York native, Kim spent some of her favorite years in the Windy City, attending Loyola University Chicago. At Loyola she developed a passion for learning, studying Sociology and Studio Art, using the city’s dynamic neighborhoods and deep community roots as her favorite learning tools. She is excited to bring that passion for learning to the quirky city of Portland by enjoying many strong cups of coffee, riding her bike through the city, and connecting with local artists.
