Experience: Beth came to PSU originally in September, 1996 as a member of the Psychology Department. She left a few years later to do full time applied research at NPC Research, a Portland-based research and evaluation firm, where she worked for 12 years. She returned to PSU in September 2010 and came to work as the Director of Early Childhood and Family Support Research at the Center for Improvement of Child and Family Services. 

Academic/Research Focus: Beth's professional work has focused on understanding effective services and programs for young children and their families. She is particularly interested in how research can be used to help improve the effectiveness of services through continual program improvement. The research and evaluation work that she does focuses on understanding the complex dynamics of change and how programs can best partner with families to help them reach their goals and help foster positive development and outcomes for their children. 

Interests: Outside of work, Beth enjoys spending time with her family (husband and teenage daughter), especially doing things outdoors like hiking, gardening, and biking.  She also loves to cook elaborate meals and enjoy them in the company of family and friends.
