Architectural Design Transition Studio 3 (ARCH 572): Winter 2017: Design work in a 3-year Master of Architecture studio

Taught by Assistant Professor Aaron Whelton, this 3-year Master of Architecture course involves advanced investigations of architectural and urban design issues in concluding series of studios. Projects include the design of public buildings which require comprehensive, integrative design development, includes individual criticism, lectures and seminars.

Two interests primarily motivate this studio:  the individual’s role as a maker of architecture and how architecture constructs relationships with external urban communities. This studio will focus on the process of design as much as it will on the end product. To better understand how making influences the design of architecture we will be exploring contemporary notions of craft both as material process and critical theory.
