Instructor. Andrea S. Jones (MS, MBA, PMP) has been consulting on Process Improvement and Project Management in Portland, OR since 2006 and is an associate member of the Northwest Center for Performance Excellence (NWCPE). She brings order to chaos in the initial project definition and scoping phases, and helps clients organize and structure projects for success. Andrea is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Leaders for Operations program, earning an MBA and Masters in Engineering with a focus on Lean Enterprise. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Instructor. Dave is a Xerox certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with over 25 years of experience in teaching, coaching, and hands on implementations of Continuous Improvement and structured problem solving. He has led continuous improvement efforts utilizing the tools in diverse situations as Engineer and Engineering manager at Tektronix, as Director of Quantitative Methods within Xerox service, as a Black Belt and Master Black Belt for Xerox Customer Support, as manager of Quality at Vestas, and as VP of Service at Xerox International Partners. Dave holds a BS in Chemistry from Lewis and Clark College, a PhD in Chemistry from Oregon State University, and an MBA from University of Phoenix.

Jessica Ferrell Jessica Ferrell
Instructor. Jessica Ferrell grew up in a restaurant family. She starting busing tables and working the counter at her uncle’s burger shop when she was a kid. She has managed everything from private events, small restaurant operations, and kitchen pop ups. She cut her teeth as a bartender in Chicago, before moving to Maine to manage the beverage program at Salt Water Farm, where she sourced local beers, wines, spirits and coffee directly from makers. She planned weekly pairing menus, conducted staff tasting trainings, and managed inventory. If she loves anything more than an efficient creative bar program, it’s creating a superior customer experience in the bar, restaurant or pub. She received her MBA from Portland State University, where she specialized in Marketing Strategy. She spends her weekends camping, cooking over fires, and posting a lot of pictures of her hand holding beer cans.

Instructor. Shawn Duffy has worked in the Business Intelligence industry for over 18 years, working for many years as a Consultant with Fortune 100/500 companies throughout the US & Canada. He currently manages the Business Intelligence Practice at Axian, Inc. in Beaverton, OR and enjoys no longer sitting on airplanes ~220,000 miles each year. His specialties include Business Intelligence (BI) Strategy & Architecture, BI Roadmaps, Business Efficiencies w/ Data, Data Movement, Dashboards, Mobility for BI, and has deep Product Expertise in SAP BusinessObjects, SAP HANA, Microsoft SSIS, Microsoft SSRS, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SAP Data Services, and the entire MicroStrategy platform (versions 9.3 – 10.8). Shawn earned his MBA from Portland State University. Instructor. Dr. Margaret (Mandy) Olund is an HR professional with over 22 years of experience in public service in the Federal sector in the areas of human resources, diversity, and civil rights. She also served as a consultant for five years in the private sector in the aerospace, waste management, government, marketing, finance, and sales industries. Dr. Olund’s career successes include developing and implementing diversity/equity/inclusion programs, resolving organizational issues through intervention, designing innovative solutions to HR issues, aligning HR strategies to serve business needs, and building mutually beneficial relationships with customers and stakeholders. Dr. Olund holds a PhD in Business Administration with an emphasis in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Northcentral University; her dissertation topic was “How HR Policies Affect the Diversity of Applicant Pools – A Qualitative Study.” She also holds an MBA with a focus on Human Resources from American Intercontinental University, and is SPHR certified.

Instructor. Daniel has over 20 years of progressive leadership expertise in transportation, supply chain management, business system and strategy consulting. His background also includes studying the impacts of globalization, information technology development and business management frameworks. Most recently he was with Vestas, where he was the Global Category Sourcing Manager. Prior to that, Daniel was the Vice President of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at North Pacific, a Portland-based wholesale distributor of building materials, industrial wood products and other specialty products. Daniel served as the Director of Supply Chain process improvement at Longview Fibre Company in Longview, Washington. At Sapient, he led their Asian expansions and launched Sapient’s consulting subsidiary in Tokyo, Japan. He received a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University and a Master degree in the Management of Science and Technology from the school of OGI/Oregon Health and Science University. He was a past Treasurer for the North American Rail Shippers Association. Daniel is also a past President and current board member for the Pacific Northwest Association of Rail Shippers.

Instructor. M. Stephen Mahaffey recently joined the PSU faculty in the School of Business, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Supply and Logistics Management and MS Global Supply Chain Management programs. Stephen has over 30 years of executive management experience and was part of the management team that grew a less than $200 million national organization to a $1.87 billion industry leader. His career has spanned across leading supply chain, operations and sales management. His executive sales management experience uniquely compliments his supply chain leadership, enabling him to appreciate the customers’ experience as he has delivered supply chain best practices. Over much of his career he has helped independent businesses ranging from a few million to over $100 million in revenues to address their respective business evolution challenges in the area of Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain management. Stephen’s teaching style: “I approach the classroom as I do with business; in a collaborative style that engages and energizes internal talent with external body of knowledge to deliver best practice advancements.”

Instructor. Jay Fortenberry is a cash to cash cycle expert, teacher, mentor and author. An internationally recognized supply chain leader, Jay has had a storied, decades-long career with companies such as Honeywell, Toyota and John Deere. He designed and operated global networks serving 164 countries and 86 distribution facilities, reduced inventory by hundreds of millions of dollars using cash conversion metrics and identified millions more in logistics cost savings. Jay’s portfolio encompasses global recruiting, human resource management, SIOP, logistics operations and sourcing, trade compliance, and acquisition integration.

Scott DuHadway Scott DuHadway
Instructor. Scott DuHadway is an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management at Portland State University. Dr. DuHadway received a Ph.D. in Operations and Sourcing from Michigan State University, and a B.S. degree in both Operations Management and Business Administration from Utah State University. His research explores the dark-side of supplier relationship such as opportunistic behavior, conflict, interorganizational fraud, and disruptions due to intentional supplier behavior. Most of his research explores interface between organizational behavior theories in the supply chain context with an emphasis in supplier relationship management and risk.

An insightful and determined leader, Teri works closely with food and beverage industry clients to design, develop and implement measurable improvements to plant operations and food safety programs. In addition, she works with companies to launch products, develop sensory programs and design custom solutions for a range of manufacturing environments. With a broad range of experience in her 20+ years in food and beverage manufacturing and quality assurance, clients benefit from Teri’s varied background where she has worked for both local start-ups and international companies. Instructor. Dr. Carnovale is an expert supply chain strategist and econometrician who specializes in interfirm networks, risk management, supplier selection & relationship management, global sourcing strategies and global production networks with a specific focus on equityand non-equity-based partnerships. Dr. Carnovale has published more than 35 journal articles and conference proceedings. Dr. Carnovale earned his B.S. and PhD degrees at Rutgers University, specializing in Supply Chain Management and Marketing Sciences. Dr. Carnovale is a frequent speaker at both academic and professional supply chain meetings. His presentations generally focus on the topic of supply networks and analytics, with a specific focus on how firms can use these concepts to generate enhanced visibility and financial performance within their supply chains and extended enterprises. In addition, Dr. Carnovale frequently engages in consultative arrangements with several large and mid-size firms. Prior to his academic work he co-founded a marketing strategy and consulting firm, worked in sales and operations management roles in the IT sector, as well as in market research and marketing analytics roles.

Instructor. Kristen Pedersen is an adjunct professor, consultant, writer, and a Managing Director at Mambo Media. In her former life, she worked as an operations specialist in the US Coast Guard, wrangled talent at the Fort Lauderdale and Brussels film festivals, produced television sitcoms (among other less glamorous duties in Hollywood), and was the director of PSU's Center for Executive and Professional Education (CEPE). She completed her Ph.D. in Public Communication at Bournemouth University (UK) and currently works with companies and nonprofit organizations to improve their communications.

Instructor. Ed Warnock, MA, is a senior manager at the consulting firm Genesis Group. He has more than 20 years of experience in consulting and business management. His expertise includes operations strategy, large-scale re-engineering, IT compliance and adoption planning, performance management, leadership training, and all aspects of transition management. He is a past president of the ASTD-Cascadia Chapter and teaches in the Oregon Executive MBA program. Mr. Warnock holds a BS in aerospace engineering and received his master’s degree in whole systems design/organizational systems renewal from Antioch University in Seattle, Washington.

Instructor. Dan Grinfas counsels employers and conducts management and employee training in various employment-related areas, including workplace harassment, civil rights laws, wage and hour laws, OFLA and FMLA, disability laws and reasonable accommodation, injured-worker laws, legal hiring practices, and policy writing and employer record-keeping requirements. He represents employers before administrative agencies, including the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Mr. Grinfas is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute. He has also been included in the employment law category of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

Instructor. Ryan is an Oregon employment lawyer with 10 years of experience. He focuses his practice exclusively on advising and training employers on compliance with all manner of employment laws, including in the areas of discrimination and harassment, family leave, wage and hour, disability accommodation, and employment contracts, among others. He also has extensive experience representing employers in litigation in state and federal courts, and before administrative agencies like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI). Ryan also worked in the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office prosecuting misdemeanor cases. He has been listed as an Oregon Super Lawyer since 2014, an award reserved for the top 5-10% of lawyers in a practice area.

Kyle Abraham Kyle Abraham
Instructor. Kyle Abraham, PHR, SHRM-CP represents employers in both traditional labor and employment law matters. He works with businesses of all sizes, government entities, and not-for-profit organizations. In his employment law practice, Kyle works closely with employers to develop effective workplace policies, and he provides proactive advice and counsel. Additionally, Kyle is a trained, certified and experienced workplace investigator, and he regularly conducts investigations into allegations of employee misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or other sensitive issues. Kyle is an experienced litigator who has successfully represented clients before U.S. circuit and district courts, Oregon and Washington state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries, and other state and federal agencies. Kyle leverages his experience to help employers anticipate and resolve problems at the earliest possible stage and in a cost-effective manner, with the confidence and capability to defend employers if the matter escalates to litigation.

Mike Arnesen Mike Arnesen
Instructor. Mike Arnesen is the founder and CEO of UpBuild, a Portland-based technical marketing firm specializing in search engine optimization (SEO), analytics, and CRO. Mike has spent over a decade in SEO and web analytics, with experiences ranging from working in-house for Fortune 500 companies to getting his hands dirty doing web dev in someone’s basement. After seeing Portland’s own SwellPath through a successful acquisition as the Director of Analytics and Optimization, Mike founded UpBuild to channel his love of all things digital optimization into a new type of highly idealistic and innovative marketing agency. Mike is also a nationally recognized conference speaker, blogger, startup culture advocate, and has served as a board member at SEMpdx.

Instructor. Darin Matthews has nearly 25 years of contracting experience in both the public and private sectors. He is currently the director of procurement for the University of California, Santa Cruz. Darin has a Bachelor’s degree in Business and a Masters in Acquisition Management. He speaks on contracting and procurement issues around the world and has published several articles and books on supply chain management. He has served as business faculty for PSU and Florida Atlantic University, and has taught construction contracting for the Institute for Public Procurement for over 10 years.

Marty Ochs has come to Portland State University via a meandering path through multiple marketing management roles with large field agencies and small breweries that became some of the fastest growing breweries in the US. He is focused on details in the quality of work that a good sales department structure and function will provide when planned out appropriately. Michael Dimond now teaches finance at Portland State University after spending more than twenty-five years managing results for companies ranging from Fortune 500s to entrepreneurial startups. He has significant experience connecting practical decisions in areas of strategy, operations, and marketing to create financial results and has worked in diverse industries, including manufacturing and banking. He leverages his real-world experience to teach a variety of topics including international finance, asset valuation, and case studies in finance to graduates, undergraduates, and working professionals.

Instructor. Anne Ely Kenlon is a senior-level writer and communications manager with 35 years of experience across a broad variety of business disciplines. As a seasoned strategist and counsel to senior leaders at three Fortune 500 companies, she has written executive speeches, video scripts, opinion columns, and media pitches. Her main focus has been on employee communications and translating complex technical and financial information into understandable terms. She recently relocated to Portland from Corning, N.Y., where she managed the employee global news program for Corning Incorporated and maintained a reader satisfaction rate of more than 95%. She holds bachelor's degrees in English and journalism from Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa and a master's degree in Management and Administrative Science from the University of Texas - Dallas.

Instructor. Janet Johnson is President of O’Johnson Partners, providing interim marketing leadership and digital marketing services for B2B and B2C businesses. A marketer for technologists and a technologist for marketers, Janet has run global marketing organizations for Enron (there are stories and lessons!) and Merant (now Serena Software), and led business development efforts for Apple, IBM, and Compaq (now HP). She was a pioneer in business blogging, having started an ethical debate online in 2005 that resulted in more than 200 pieces of press in Forbes, Business Week, MIT’s Technology Review, and a case study in the Annenburg School of Journalism for her CRM startup, Marqui. Janet co-authored a blog that was recognized by Business Week twice as one of the Top 10 Business Blogs in the country. She wrote early curriculum that was adopted by the Arizona State School of Journalism and regularly teaches classes on LinkedIn, Business Communications, and PR for PSU’s Center for Executive & Professional Education.

When Liz Hutchinson was studying architecture in Boston, her curriculum included a class in homelessness. While she explored the issue from a policy perspective, she also got an up-close look at the reality of homelessness as a volunteer in a shelter.

Instructor. Tammi Wheeler, MS, SPHR, Principal of PeopleSense, LLC, specializing in customized leadership and talent development services including: organizational assessments, individual coaching, team and leadership development, management training and group facilitation. With over 20 years’ experience, Tammi excels in building strategic partnerships and deploying people strategies that are aligned to achieve business results. While at Intel she spent nearly ten years in a number of strategic leadership positions and led a large global team of human resource professionals. She is confident that every organization can realize continuous improvement through effectively leading and aligning their talent. Tammi holds a Master’s Degree in Whole Systems Design/Organizational Development from Antioch University and is certified in Myers-Briggs, Hogan Assessments, Facet Five, DDI and Achieve Global.

Instructor. Aubrey Kendall is a supplier quality engineer at Vestas Wind Systems. He graduated with a BS in manufacturing engineering from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Clemson University. Mr. Kendall is a Six Sigma Black Belt with over 15 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, and engineering management in aerospace, energy, and other industries. His strong combination of technical skills and ease in communicating make him an effective trainer and facilitator.

Instructor. Christopher Dennis has been developing, delivering and evaluating solutions since 1988. He has an unusual breadth and depth of experience, working at the intersection of people, process, and technology. As a teacher, Chris brings insight without loss of detail or subtlety. Instructor. Jordan Delapoer is the Director of Brand Strategy at North. Formerly with Wieden+Kennedy, Jordan has crafted strategy for Target, EA Sports, Brooks Sports, Gerber Legendary Blades, Columbia Sportswear, CLIF Bar, and Anchor Brewing Company, among others. He currently presides over all of North’s strategic output as it relates to business goals and strategies, audience analysis, brand positioning, and channel strategies.

Instructor. Mitch Menendez is the Senior Director, Global Apparel Leader for Men’s Athletic Training at Nike. His team works to strategize, line plan, design, and commercialize/bring to market a global apparel line that connects to their consumer/athlete. His role is to lead his team and functional partners across the product creation process that delivers consumer right product that is both profitable and productive. Mitch’s experience at Nike has spanned Sales, Retail Merchandising, Operations, and Product Creation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing from the University of Florida.

Jennifer Nolfi Jennifer Nolfi
Instructor. Jennifer Nolfi is an experienced business professional who brings a unique blend of work in both the public and private sectors. She has extensive ties to the region and Oregon's business community. One of Jennifer’s greatest strengths is her ability to weave together ideas, people, and resources to form partnerships and bring programs to life. Jennifer recently joined PSU as the Director of the Athletic & Outdoor (A&O) Industry Program. Prior to joining PSU, she served as the Director for Partnership Development at Looptworks, a design firm that uses excess premium materials to craft limited edition clothing and accessories. There Jennifer gained experience in taking a product from ideation to market and working with partner brands to reduce their waste stream. Before that, Jennifer spent 12 years working for the Portland Development Commission. She counts among her key accomplishments: spearheading a public-private research partnership that culminated in the very first comprehensive market sizing study of the A&O Industry; an action plan to position Oregon as a leader in this space; and providing a platform for PSU to launch a program focused on the A&O industry. Jennifer served on the PSU Athletic & Outdoor Advisory Board and continues to be active with SYNQ Consulting.

Will Sandman Will Sandman
Instructor. Will Sandman is the Account Manager for Avery Dennison; Avery Dennison sells hangtags, labels, patches, woven jacquard, information systems, variable data solutions and much more for the biggest brands in the world. Previous to this role, he spent time with a footwear agent, Chinook Trading, where he spent almost a year in China inside footwear and apparel factories. In addition, he was a materials rep for Huachang Synthetic Leather. Also, he worked for several years as one of the Nike account reps with Paccess and managed the product development management system data and a host of other supplier related initiatives in the Mia Hamm materials library. Will graduated from PSU with a Master's in International Management focusing on Chinese as his language of specialty. Previously, Will also owned Sandman Pottery in Louisville, importing containers of ceramic pots, indoor and outdoor furniture, and other garden products for sale at the wholesale and retail level.

Maria Pearman Maria Pearman
Instructor. Maria Pearman, CPA is the founder of Radix Accounting.Maria earned her accounting degree from Linfield College and worked as a CPA in the tax department at Perkins and Company, Portland’s largest local accounting firm, where she specialized in breweries, service businesses, and high net worth individuals. It was during that time that she recognized a need for contract Controller service in Portland’s brewery industry, and in 2012 Radix Accounting was created to serve those clients. Additionally Maria is Portland’s Lead Instructor of Becker CPA Review, an educational program that prepares CPA candidates to successfully pass the CPA exam. She teaches financial accounting, managerial accounting, tax, auditing, and economics. She also is an active member of the AICPA and the Oregon Society of CPAs,and currently serving as Vice Chair of the Business and Industry Conference.

Nate Young Nate Young
Instructor. How do you capture the attention of an ever-changing audience? Nate Young has spent the better part of his life trying to answer that question in roles as diverse as Marketing Coordinator for Brightworks, a small environmental consulting agency and as Sustainability Manager for Hopworks, a regional brewpub in Portland, Oregon. In addition to teaching at PSU, Nate currently works as an elementary teacher and a consultant for a variety of craft breweries in the Portland area. He holds an MBA from Portland State University and a BS in Education from Northern Arizona University.

Instructor. Madeleine (Mellie) Pullman is an associate professor of operations management in the PSU School of Business. She earned her PhD at the University of Utah in 1997. She has previously taught in the Graduate and Executive programs at Cornell University, London Business School, Southern Methodist University, CSU, CU, and University of Utah. Prior to academia, Mellie worked at Pyramid Brewing Co. (Kalama, WA), was the brewmaster at Hops Brewpub (Phoenix, AZ) and brewmaster/co-owner of Wasatch Brewery (Park City, UT).

He has 23 years' experience in innovation leadership including work at Siemens and A-dec which resulted in the creation of market-defining product families. At Siemens Medical Solutions, Albrecht led innovation resulting in platform reinvention that allowed the medical division to regain its #1 market position in less than two years. At A-dec, Inc. as Vice President of Product Development, Albrecht implemented a development infrastructure that bridged the culture of a founder/entrepreneur to the future. His work at A-dec resulted in a new product line that has become the premier product line in the dental industry. Today Albrecht teaches and consults with a number of organizations who seek the tools and momentum to innovate and grow their market share. He has a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Fachhochschule Darmstadt, Germany.

Instructor. Dave Garten is currently Professor of Business in the Portland State University and Oregon Executive MBA programs. He teaches graduate courses in Business Strategy, Strategic Alliances and Acquisitions, and Negotiation. He also is Director of PSU’s MBA Capstone Consulting program. Dave has extensive experience in strategy development, management, marketing, product development, strategic alliances and acquisitions, negotiation, raising capital and finance. Dave is a Director and Finance Committee lead at The Organically Grown Company, Chairman and Director at SeQuential-Pacific Biodiesel and is a member of the Portland metropolitan region’s Community Investment Initiative Leadership Council. He has an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT, and an M.Eng. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Instructor. Gudrun Granholm is the founder of Box One, Inc. an organization devoted to financial communication for non-financial managers. She received her MBA from Stanford Business School and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). Instructor. Enrique Washington is an executive search and talent management consultant and co-founder of the Generator Group. Enrique’s most meaningful work over the past 20 years has involved helping individuals and organizations achieve their full potential through the creation and implementation of executive talent acquisition and leadership development strategies. He is the co-author of the upcoming book, Using Competencies To Establish A Common Language Across A Talent Management System. Enrique is the host of The Talent Lab, a podcast show dedicated to informing its listeners about talent management trends and practices. Enrique is an accomplished athlete; he was named a Track and Field All American and remains an avid runner and athlete. He has a passion for photography and music. Enrique holds a BS in marketing and an MS in corporate and public communication from Seton Hall University. He also holds an MS in industrial organizational psychology from Kansas State University.

Meet Mark Prater Meet Mark Prater
Mark Prater earned his BA in Accounting from Portland State in 1981. He is currently the deputy staff director and minority chief tax counsel on the Senate Finance Committee. Prater became the committee's chief tax counsel when Sen. Robert Packwood was chair, who is well-liked and widely praised on both sides of the aisle. Prater’s expertise extends beyond taxes to other areas under the Finance Committee’s jurisdiction including health care.

Looking for a way to help her organizational clients improve their abilities in implementing change, Dr. Stebbins is a licensee of Prosci Change Management Methodology and is a Certified Fierce Conversation Facilitator. She is a member of the Springboard NW Fierce Learning Community. She is successfully using this communication strategy inside organizations to help them make the case for and implement change. Tami Boedigheimer Tami Boedigheimer
Instructor. Tami Boedigheimer has an undergraduate degree in economics and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Portland. She recently held the position of president for Columbia Willamette Compensation Group, an affiliated group of World at Work, and is currently a group partnership liaison and board member for World at Work. Before establishing a career and consulting practice in employee compensation, Ms. Boedigheimer spent over ten years in corporate accounting and finance in the high-tech industry. Since starting her own practice she has worked for companies as small as 40 employees and as large as 10,000. Her work spans a variety of industries, including health care, high tech, banking, public utilities, and manufacturing.

Tom Fabrizio Tom Fabrizio
Instructor. Tom Fabrizio, president and founder of Lean Manufacturing Tools, LLC and a founding member of the Northwest Center for Performance Excellence (NWCPE), has been teaching leadership, team development, and Just-In-Time (JIT) systems for over 25 years. He received his original Lean training from first-generation experts, including Dr. Shigeo Shingo (co-architect of The Toyota Production System), Hiroyuki Hirano (author and noted JIT expert), Dr. Ryuji Fukuda (member of The Sigma Project in Japan and winner of the Deming Prize), and TPM experts from theJapan Institute of Plant Maintenance. Mr. Fabrizio holds an undergraduate engineering degree, a MEd, and a law degree. He has authored several books and training programs about Lean.

Since then, he’s helped grow businesses by connecting his clients with their constituents via the Internet. In 2000, Lewis founded Anvil Media, Inc., a digital marketing agency specializing in search engine and social media marketing for Fortune 2000 companies. Under his leadership, Anvil has received recognition from Portland Business Journal and Inc. Magazine as a Fastest Growing and Most Philanthropic Company

Instructor. Paul Spindel is principal at Paul Spindel LLC, focusing on management and supervisory development. He holds an MA in organizational communications and is a certified facilitator of the Myers Briggs assessment and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Instrument. Mr. Spindel has over 18 years of human resources experience with Marriott and Nike. With Tonia Twigger, he teaches "Creating the Life You Want" workshops helping folks figure out what to do with their lives. He conducts workshops aimed at creating an environmentally sustainable, socially just, and spiritually fulfilling human presence on this planet. His mission is to touch hearts, challenge minds, and incite laughter.

Steve Zagarola Steve Zagarola
Instructor. Steve Zagarola is a Executive Master Black Belt in Six Sigma with more than 25 years’ experience in the application of statistical and modern structured approaches to the optimization of manufacturing and transactional processes, quality systems and R&D. He was certified by the Six Sigma Management Institute by Dr. Mikel J. Harry – one of the original founders of the Six Sigma methodology at Motorola. He has worked with and provided training and consulting for industries ranging from advanced semi-conductors, food and beverage, plastics molding, and wind energy in both the manufacturing and service and administration sectors. He has worked to improve manufacturing operations for global organizations on six continents and in English, Spanish, Italian and German. Steve is the Managing Partner for Northwest Center for Performance Excellence. He has also served as chief instructor at Portland State University’s CEPE Six Sigma program since the program’s inception in 2007, Six Sigma Program and Quality Manager at Vestas Wind Systems and as Director of Quality for Cascade Microtech and as a Senior Manufacturing Manager at The Coca-Cola Company. He provided technical editing for the 2012 edition of Six Sigma for Dummies for John Wiley & Sons. Steve is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and German. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and completed post-graduates studies in Psychology at Georgia Tech and Georgia State University.

Instructor. Tonia Twigger holds an MS in instructional technology and is a certified Myers Briggs Type Indicator facilitator. She has 20-plus years of instructional and program design experience in public and private sectors designing and delivering training and working with teams at all levels to inspire change. She works as a coach and mentor with people who are trying to change the course of their lives. Her mission is “behold, ask, learn, create, share, connect.”

Tsai, has been working with a plethora of organizations from government, non-profit to global corporations on cross-cultural competency and communications, and diversity & inclusion (D&I) since 2005. This includes: Assessments and gap analysis of organizational effectiveness as it relates to cultural competence and/or diversity/inclusion. Design and facilitation of cross-cultural communications, cultural competence or diversity and inclusion training programs across departments and within teams (team interventions). Keynote speaker on topics related to diverse workforce, global communications and/or cultural competence. Coaching of executives and managers who lead diverse work teams. 1:1 coaching of foreign- and U.S.-born persons of color. Culture and business workshops for Working with Asians, China, Malaysia or Singapore. Making recommendations for and the implementation of strategic Diversity & Inclusion initiatives and/or diversity & inclusion councils.

Instructor. Judy Clark, SPHR, CPC, is the president and founder of HR Answers, Inc., the largest independent human resources consulting firm in the Pacific Northwest. She has more than 30 years of human resource experience. Ms. Clark has instructed in CEPE's HR Certificate Program since its inception and is an adjunct faculty member of the University of Washington. She is certified as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR) and as a professional consultant. Nationally recognized, Ms. Clark's experience with organizations of all sizes and industries gives her the broad perspective she brings to the classroom.
