Alberto McKelligan Hernández, Assistant Professor of Art History in the School of Art + Design, curated "Mónica Mayer: Translocal Translations, 1978-2018": A retrospective exhibition of the acclaimed Mexican artist's work. Hosted by Portland Community College at the Cascade Paragon Gallery, the exhibition featured selections of Mayer’s work from the past four decades. Her work in performance, drawing, photography, and social practice has been long been engaged with feminist issues and activism. Visitors were able to engage in cultural critique through interactive activities in the gallery, as well as interact with the artist herself when Mayer lead a walk-through of the exhibition.
