What's your favorite thing about studying and working at the SBA?

I love learning and working in the SBA for many reasons. All of the professors are so helpful and find a way to make studying here enjoyable. Working in the SBA is wonderful, everyone in the advising office is so friendly and fun. I am lucky to be in a place that makes school and work feel like a hobby!

What made you want to be a Peer Advisor?

After working with the Orientation Team at Portland State, I found that I had a hidden passion for helping other students adjust to the university. We were given the opportunity to attend and assist during advising sessions at each orientation, and it quickly became my favorite part of the job. I am excited to be a Peer Advisor because I am able to continue to help other students throughout the school year.

Why should students seek express advising? What should they expect? How should they prepare?

Express advising is a great way for students to get help while on a tight schedule. Students should expect to find an answer to their questions. Even if Peer Advisors do not know the answer, we will be able to find someone who does. Students can prepare by writing down any questions they would like us to address, and printing out a DARS report.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years I see myself working in a management or leadership role of some sort. I would love to be in a company where I am able to help others as a living.

Have a quick question or two? Drop in for Express Advising and meet with a peer advisor. Peer advisors offer firsthand experience in classes and tips about the SBA system and guidelines. They all are trained to offer academic planning and other curriculum based guidance to all students who plan to graduate with a business degree from PSU.
