My Background

I had the pleasure of attending Portland State University for my undergraduate program and graduated with Cum Laude Honors. Not long after, I packed up and moved to Yamanashi, Japan, where I enjoyed a variety of unforgettable experiences over my 7+ years there: teaching English through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program; sharing the joy of stage performance at a Japanese university and through a senior outreach program; extensively promoting international relations through the Minami Alps International Association; and even collaborating with a talented author/professor in composing books which detail the intricacies of the English language and customs. Inspired by my invaluable experiences, I returned to the US to explore ways I could use my unique strengths in deepening the relationship between Asia and Oregon while augmenting my own education and skills. When I found out about the Master of International Management Program, I knew it was a perfect fit. I am honored to be now serving as an active liaison between current and prospective MIM students and the PSU School of Business Administration as Ambassador and Vice Class President.

My Experience at Portland State University

Following the intensive 5-week MIM Business Foundations Lab, I joined PSU’s MIM Program in the Fall 2015 term and since have been delighted, encouraged, and challenged by both the intensity and high quality of the courses and activities related to the program. Furthermore, with over half of the students being from countries outside of the US, the unique makeup of the cohort has allowed for a level of diversity seldom found in a business program. Through this accelerated 15-month program, I feel we will be rapidly equipped with the extensive knowledge, personal connections, and strategic mindset that will be invaluable in our future careers in the world of international business. I greatly enjoy the opportunities afforded by both PSU and the MIM Program in connecting with others in the business community, and look forward to building lifelong relationships with students, professors, and businesspeople alike.

My Future Goals

It is my heartfelt desire to use the unique knowledge and skillset I gain through the MIM Program to expand Oregon’s ties with Asia. I aspire to encourage diversification by collaborating with Asia Pacific Rim businesses and traveling overseas to do business face-to-face in our growing global market. I will keep challenging myself to learn additional Asian languages, and to use my various skills for the betterment of both our local and global communities. Additionally, I would like to give back to PSU in some way by continuing in my involvement beyond graduating through acting as a mentor and sharing my experiences with the students here.
