Each year the Portland Business Journal recognizes 40 overachievers under the age of 40. The 2012 list of winners includes three Portland State School of Business Administration alumni. Congratulations to Matt Guilfoyle (MBA ’04), Gregory Price (MBA ’09), and Ken York (BS Marketing ’03)!


Matt Guilfoyle, MBA ‘04

Matt is the Manager of Project 2020 at Daimler Trucks, N.A. Project 2020's focus is on meeting DTNA’s strategic objectives of leading the industry in fuel economy performance and for reaching a 20% reduction in fuel consumption for its entire product portfolio by the year 2020.

Matt has over 15 years of product development and project management experience. He owns a 2010 US Patent:  Selective closing of at least one vehicle opening at a front portion of a vehicle. He is a 2004 Portland State MBA and holds an Engineering degree from the University of Michigan.

As a member of Portland State’s School of Business, Graduate Alumni Ambassador Council, Matt continues to give back to PSU by serving as a Mentor to MBA students. He frequently shares his expertise with students through panels and internship positions.


Gregory Price, MBA ‘09

A Regional Director at Northern Power Systems, Gregory is also the founder of Oregon Small Wind Energy Association which works with manufacturers of small wind energy systems. A self-described “wind geek” Gregory works to promote the wind industry throughout the western United States.

He holds an MBA from Portland State, which is ranked no. 1 in the world by Beyond Grey Pinstripes for its focus on social and environmental stewardship. A wind industry expert, Gregory is frequently quote in business journals, including Sustainable Business Oregon.

Gregory participated in a National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) program in Nicaragua. From this experience, he saw an opportunity to develop a study-abroad curriculum at PSU around micro-enterprise and micro-finance. The new program allowed PSU to work with impoverished communities in Nicaragua to improve their quality of life. 


Ken York, BS Marketing ‘03

Ken York, a Tigard, Oregon native, serves as Chief Operating Officer at Ascension Software. With over two decades of operations and product management experience—most notably, the management, design, development, and deployment of one of the Internet’s first web-based continuing education centers—Ken’s previous experience includes serving as the Chief Product Manager of SNALF, Inc—a software development company for the healthcare industry.

Here, he led the engineering and deployment efforts of a TQM system for Genesis Health Ventures linking over 400 facilities together via one central platform.

As the COO of Ascension, Ken is responsible for all product procurement, manufacturing coordination, logistics, installations, network maintenance, quality assurance, and hotel and guest support, as well as assisting with new product development efforts and product revisions.
