Burke Jam was born and raised in rural Montana. He received an MFA in 2013 from the University of Montana. In 2013/14 he was a Fulbright Grant recipient to Iceland researching environmental sound, physical place and perceptual coherence. Jam's practice is centered within sound, technology and new media. Its focus lies on the intersect of acoustic ecology, composition and the anthropocene—questioning human and environmental relationships. Jam performs and exhibits internationally and works as the Director of Digital Facilities and is an Adjunct Instructor of Art and Music within the College of the Arts at Portland State University.
