Portland's largest university is offering a new energy-centric graduate certificate.

The certificate, in energy policy and management, aims to prep students for an industry growing ever more complex as renewable sources become more prevalent.

Portland State University's program will be available to students in existing graduate programs, as well as professionals seeking to broaden their skills.

According to a statement, students will be able to customize their studies to focus on analyzing and developing effective energy policy, forecasting and systems analysis, efficiency programs and planning for sustainable energy and climate issues.

Industry advisers, including PSU alumni with experience in energy policy and management fields, will play an important role in the certificate, according to the school'.

“This program was developed after extended conversations with our colleagues in the regional energy industry,” said Loren Lutzenhiser, director of the energy certificate and professor of urban studies and planning, in a statement. “We’re responding to the needs of the marketplace with a unique, interdisciplinary program.”
