A message from the Portland State Nepalese Student Association

Dear Respected PSU community, Faculties, Students and Friends:

Namaste.

We are writing this letter in urgency regarding the catastrophic earthquake of 7.8 magnitude that hit Nepal on Saturday, April 25th. There has been series of aftershock jolts resulting in 5+ Richter Scale and couple of 6+ Richter Scale. At this moment, more than 4500 people have been reported dead and the death toll continues to rise. Thousands have been injured and countless have lost their homes. People are living in tents, with no food, communication and electricity. Hundreds of travellers, children and their families are missing. Our historic buildings, temples are in rubbles to dust and the monuments listed in world heritage sites are no more. Currently most part of Nepal are windy and it has started to rain at some places. After few days there will be high chances of cholera epidemic, massive homelessness and inadequate food/water but are not limited.

Nepal being a developing country does not have enough resources to fight back during this sudden emergency situation. Hence, we wanted to initiate a campaign in Portland, OR to help people in Nepal.

How you can help?

  1. Donate for the cause.

    1. Monetary funds (Online or Cheque) are the best way to help. No foods/stationery items or clothes. Its costly to ship it 7000+ miles from USA.
