The Portland State University Diversity Action Council will begin seeking nominations on Monday, March 28, for the seventh annual President's Diversity Awards.

Nomination forms will be sent to all PSU departments.  The form includes a fill-in-the-blanks section for the nominee's basic information, and also asks for a letter of support and a typed statement about why the person should be nominated. Download the form here, and open with Microsoft Word.

To be considered, nominations must be received by PSU's Office if Diversity & Inclusion no later than 5 p.m. April 15.

The awards will be presented at the Council's annual Diversity Awards Reception, scheduled from 3 to 6:30 p.m. May 11 in the Smith Memorial Ballroom. Avel Gordly, former Oregon representative and a member PSU's Black Studies faculty, will be the keynote speaker.

Awards will be given to one faculty member, one staff member, one undergraduate student and one graduate student.  Recipients will be persons who exemplify and honor PSU's diversity goals, which focus on:

  • Enhancing the institutional environment, curriculum, and scholarship for diversity
  • Increasing numbers of students, faculty, staff, and administration from under-represented groups
  • Strengthening connections with diverse communities in the region.
