Yixing Clay (Zisha)Teapot and Chinese Tea Culture

Mr. Chen Yan, born in Dingshu, Jiangsu in 1965, is a Chinese Arts and Crafts Master. He started learning carving in 1981 from Tan Yaokun and Master Tan Quanhai at Yixing Clay Teapot Factory and in 1983 learned teapot design from his mother, Master Li Bifang, and artist Xu Chengquan. In 1988, Mr. Chen studied art at Academy of Arts & Design in Beijing. Later, he learned neriage, which adds more decoration to the traditional Zisha teapot artwork, from Chinese Arts and Crafts Master Lv Yaochen. Mr. Chen makes his Zisha teapot artwork unique and elegant by combining neriage decoration and creative design. In 2014, he began working as a teaching assistant at Academy of Arts & Design in Lv Yaochen's & Lv Junjie's national arts and crafts theories workshop.
