Urban Transportation Planning Challenges in China

In the coming Thursday's China Seminar, our visiting scholar, Zhong Chen, will talk about the challenges of transportation planning in Chinese cities due to the fragmented institutional responsibilities, the historical land use and transportation connection, and the high population density in cities, among others.

​About the speaker: Focusing on urban transportation, Zhong Chen has been involved in many kinds of projects during his first five year’s work, including transportation planning, public transportation hub design, codes and standards of pedestrian and bicycle transport, as well as traffic modeling. Among these projects, he is mostly interested in the pedestrian and bicycle transport design and traffic modeling. As a visiting scholar at PSU, Zhong is willing to participate any kinds of discussions about transportation related issues to get different ideas, opinions, and principles. In addition, he would like to make friends here, and share with you all what he knows about Chinese cities and cultures if you are interested.
