Seminar: Building a Network of Biophilic Cities
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - 9:58am

Join us for a seminar that will explore the global movement of cities embracing the myriad values of urban nature by placing nature at the forefront of how their cities will evolve. Participants will learn about the growth of the Biophilic Cities Network and how to join and participate in this network of cities aspiring together to achieve a vision of natureful cities. The seminar will examine the projects and polices underway that promote the planning and design of cities with abundant and accessible nature and the emerging study and scientific documentation of the many benefits of nature in cities. Portland, Oregon, as a founding member of the Biophilic Cities Network has been a leader in this effort. The same passion for the creation of places where residents can experience nature as a basic element of their daily lives is evident in many other cities throughout the Pacific Northwest. The seminar will serve as a launching point for collaboration across the region. Dr. Beatley will also have copies of his new book, Handbook of Biophilic City Planning & Design.
