The Impact of Communication Impairments on the Social Relationships of Older Adults

Featured Research on Aging (OHSU's Hatfield Center):
"The Impact of Communication Impairments on the Social Relationships of Older Adults"

Location: OHSU Hospital Auditorium, OHS 8B60

As a result of this activity, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe changes in the social relationships of older adults that occur as part of normal aging,
  • Identify the types of social relationships that were significantly impacted by a communication impairment, and
  • Discuss possible reasons for these findings including potential clinical implications.

OHSU's Featured Research on Aging forum is a bi-monthly, interprofessional forum that brings together researchers, providers, and scholars across the OHSU missions to explore current gerontological topics. The goals are to promote interprofessional collaboration, disseminate the latest knowledge relevant to the health and healthcare of older adults, generate ideas for future research, and consider innovative research methodology.

It is held on the second Monday of alternating months in the Hospital Auditorium (OHS 8B60) from noon to 12:55 p.m.
