Join First Saturday PDX & PSU Institute for Asian Studies for an illustrated lecture. 
From the Han Dynasty (207 BCE – 220 CE), the Ancient Silk Road brought together peoples from different cultures for inter-regional trade and commerce and the exchange of religions and ideas.  This presentation will focus on the Uyghurs and introduce us to their culture, including dress, language, music, dance, and cuisine.


A monthly program featuring lectures and presentations on art, architecture, gardens and historical culture of China and East Asia, highlighting connections with the Pacific NW.  

About the speaker: Dr. Baihetiyaer Tuerxun, retired Professor of History from Xinjiang University, China, who currently holds a courtesy appointment with the Dept. of History, Portland State University.
