What is an Incomplete?

An Incomplete is a grade that an instructor may give when you have not completed all the essential assignments for a class. You must have an agreement with the instructor regarding how and when the required work is to be completed.  There is a deadline of no longer than one year for completion of the work. For undergraduate courses, if the Incomplete is not make up by the end of one year the grade of I automatically changes to a grade of F or NP depending on the grade option selected at registration. For graduate level courses, the grade of I becomes part of the permanent transcript record unless a waiver is approved by petition to the Graduate Council.
