Join us for a philosophy storytelling event hosted by PSU’s Philosophy department and the Socratic Society. Philosophers, like virtually everyone else, use storytelling as an effective means of communicating because it affords a kind of cognitive play, enlarges the imagination, contextualizes abstractions, humanizes long dead philosophers, and promotes connectivity among the living. These stories may be legends, tall tales, mythical, comedic, tragic, or just downright outlandish. At this event several of the professors in the Philosophy Department will share their favorite stories relevant to their philosophical interests, not to analyze and evaluate the merit of storytelling, but simply to enjoy the experience together. Come and see what absurdities may arise.
