Please join us in celebrating Biosafety Awareness Month on October 18th from 10 am - 12 pm in SRTC 257 (1719 SW 10th Ave). There will be light refreshments provided and two wonderful guest speakers presenting on some of the biosafety related research they are currently working on at PSU.

The first speaker is Ken Stedman, presenting his dual talk titled "The Role of Institutional Biosafety Committees" and "Vaccine Stabilization Research". He is a professor in the Biology department, as well as the current chair for the campus Biosafety Committee. Ken's research focuses on viruses of the extremely thermophilic archaeon (also known as archaebacteria) Sulfolobus and other viruses in volcanic hot springs.

The second speaker is David Peyton, presenting his talk “Development of New Drugs Against Malaria”. David is a professor within the Chemistry department, where his research mainly focuses on drug discovery and development to treat infectious agents, as well as biophysical studies of biomolecules.
