The Chinese Urban & University Landscape: A Personal Perspective

Lloyd Meyer is a retired Federal Employee and has spent much of the last 8 years traveling, studying and teaching in China. For many generations his parents and grandparents farmed in the region which recently became the "urban land reserves" outside of the existing urban growth boundaries, Lloyd has been closely involved in the China Program in several study tours for visitors who are interested in learning about Oregon's Planning Laws.  Lloyd will talk about his experiences with his students as well as his observations of city life in China today.  He will conclude by comparing his understanding of land use planning in China with his own experience in working to save his "family farm" from urban development here in Oregon.
