Meet Education Abroad Peer Advisor Alexandra Gritta

Alexandra’s most recent study abroad experience was interning as a journalist with Morocco World News in Rabat, Morocco. In Morocco, Alexandra studied both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and the local dialect, Darija (or "Moroccan Arabic”) with CIEE, in order to help work toward her Arabic Major. During her six-month stay in Morocco, Alexandra lived with three different host families and had the privilege to meet diverse groups of Moroccan people. This was Alexandra’s second study abroad experience in Morocco—the first was in 2013 on a 6-week government scholarship program for high schoolers.

Previously, Alexandra also studied abroad in Toulouse, France and in Shanghai, China for 4 months each to help further her French and Chinese language skills.

In her spare time, Alexandra enjoys amateur photography, painting, writing, horseback riding, and collecting Disney pins and model horses. Alexandra also volunteers yearly at Duchess Horse Sanctuary located in Southerlin, Oregon.

After PSU, Alexandra hopes to take a year off school to return to Morocco and work with a study abroad program to help others connect with Moroccan culture. She also hopes to work toward her Global Master of Business Administration (MBA).

One of Alexandra's favorite travel quotes is “You will never be completely at home again because part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place."
