Meet Cynthia Gomez

Cynthia Carmina Gómez is the Executive Director of the Cultural Resource Centers at Portland State University. Cynthia is also Affiliated Faculty in Public Administration and University Studies where she  teaches sustainability and social justice focused community-based learning courses to undergraduates as part of the general education Senior Capstone Program. She also has worked for the Portland non-profit Latino Network, first as a board member, then in direct service as an adjudicated youth educational advocate, and most recently, as the Director of Líderes, a civic engagement and leadership program. Formerly, Cynthia worked as the PSU Coordinator for the Oregon Leadership Institute, where she worked with college and high school Latino students in partnership with Portland Public Schools and the Oregon Council for Hispanic Advancement; worked for the non-profit Innovation Partnership; and operated her own consulting firm. She has served on the Oregon Latino Agenda for Action board of directors; was a Commissioner for the Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs and the Environmental Justice Task Force; and is a graduate of Leadership Portland Class of 2012. In 2015, Cynthia was awarded the Governors' Gold Award in Civic Leadership. Cynthia is currently a candidate in the MFA Creative Writing Nonfiction Program at PSU.
