PSU History

Since 2000, Kate has been involved in the Child Welfare Partnership, The Distance Education Program, and has taught multiple graduate and undergraduate courses. She has advised many students over the years and has also served as a Field Instructor. Her primary passion at P.S.U. has been collaborating with and learning from all students. She is committed to creating classroom environments and advising support that acknowledge and address institutional, systemic, social, and personal barriers that many students face on the way to their educational and career dreams. 

Academic/Research Focus

Critical theory in clinical practice, equity and social justice activism, attachment and developmental trauma, collaborative therapy and activism, practical interventions in the real world, trauma informed care and authentic presence. Pet-Human Bond, Pet Loss, and Compassion Fatigue in the veterinary profession.

Personal Interests

Kate loves dogs and anything to do with the pet and human bond. When she is not marching in protests, writing electeds and being part of various social justice consortiums, you will find Kate at dog parks, working with veterinary professionals, and supporting humans who have lost their animal companions. She also enjoys writing.
