Community Research and Partnership Director, Strategic Partnerships

As the Community Research and Partnership Director, Ms. Spring works with PSU students, faculty, staff, and community partners to facilitate and support the growth of community partnerships. While working as the Director, Amy has been responsible for supporting the university’s Partnership Council, the development and support of strategic partnerships with Portland Public Schools, Intel, and PGE, and providing leadership for the campus community engagement agenda. Ms Spring has spent a significant part of her career development expertise in facilitating faculty and student development workshops focused on community engagement and coordinating recruitment of students and faculty to participate applied community-based teaching. Her experience in working with many university and community constituents is clearly demonstrated by these varied responsibilities

Her teaching portfolio included courses in civic leadership and policy analysis. Her capstone course is an Inside-Out course where Portland State University students take a course inside a prison with people who are serving time. Typically these courses focus on analysis of prison policy nationally and locally and ways that citizens can take action in small and large ways to change influence public policy. She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Urban Studies. She is the mother of two children, ages 18 and 20 and the proud owner of a labradoodle and a schnoodle.
