PSU hires new Korean Studies faculty

Welcome Professor Daniel Kim!  As part of a grant from the Korea Foundation, PSU has hired Daniel Kim to teach additional courses in Korean Studies beginning Fall term 2017. Professor Kim’s discipline is modern Korean history, but the has broad interests and his first course this fall is titled, “Korea’s Twentieth Century through Literature, Film, and Music.” Professor Kim is a native of Corvallis, Oregon. His doctorial studies have been at the University of Wisconsin and he also did research at Seoul National University.  This new professorship is funded in part from a Korea Foundation grant with matching funds from private individuals and groups in the local community.  Professor Ken Ruoff of PSU, who authored the grant application, is greatly appreciative of the Korean community’s matching contributions for the first year.
