Portland State University Research Week Presents: The Presidential Career Research Award Lecture with Professor Robert Strongin

Chemistry Professor Robert StronginJoin us for a presentation by the 2018 Presidential Career Research Award Recipient, Robert Strongin, Professor of Chemistry at PSU. Strongin's talk "The Chemistry of Vaping Tobacco and Cannabis" will highlight Strongin's and colleagues' recent research into the potential health risks associated with vaping.

Abstract: "The popularity of e-cigarettes has led to one of the biggest public health controversies in recent memory. Youth usage was recently termed an epidemic by the FDA. Moreover, a recent survey showed that over 2 million middle and high school students had used cannabis in an e-cigarette. Our labs have been extensively investigating the chemical reactions and contents of e-cigarette aerosols. Our goal is to enhance understanding of their health risks and to enable evidence-based policy decisions."
