OUR BODIES OUR DOCTORS

Winner of the 2019 Portland International Film Festival

Audience Award for "Best Documentary Feature"

Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Cramer Hall, Room 53 (1721 SW Broadway, 97201)

OUR BODIES OUR DOCTORS tells the story of what it means to be an abortion provider today: facing threats of violence and intensified efforts to criminalize abortion. Religious control over health care is expanding, including in many pro-choice states. The abortion debate continues to be defined by gruesome images of the anti-abortion movement. In contrast, the film provides a hopeful point of view: an intimate glimpse into the lives of courageous providers who have devoted their careers to ensuring women have access to skilled, compassionate care.  The film features Portland providers, often unsung heroes, who have taken national leadership roles in the fight for women's reproductive rights.

There will be a Q & A with Director Jan Haaken, Assistant Director Samantha Praus, and Dr. Andrea Chiavarini, one of the physicians featured in the film.
