Fridays@4: Threads of Continuity: Drawing with Freedom: Workshop with Bill Tripp
Friday, November 8, 2019 - 4:00pm to Friday, November 8, 2019 - 6:00pm
Fridays@4: Threads of Continuity: Drawing with Freedom: Workshop with Bill Tripp

Successful architects must be able to sketch freely and without fear, drawing to see, to understand, to imagine, to design, and to communicate. Drawing is as essential for architects as speaking is for everyone else.

In the first half of the workshop, Bill Tripp will introduce Layers of Meaning and Threads of Continuity, two essential concepts for understanding architecture.

In the second half we will learn how to overcome the fear of drawing and how to use sketching as a powerful means of exploration, discovery, and design.

Bill Tripp is the principal of TRIPP ARCHITECTURE, a multi-faceted architectural practice designing buildings, urban spaces, memorials and theatre sets.  He teaches architectural design, theory, and drawing.  His expertise includes the work of Alvar Aalto, drawing and sketching methods, and the design of ritual space.
